Primarily non-invasive diagnosis and therapy of artery diseases, diseases of veins and lymphatic vessels. We are also offering treatment of various forms of arterial circulation disturbance, as for example restriction of blood flow resulting from narrowing or occlusion

• arteries of the brain (signs of paralysis, stroke)

We are specially trained for non-invasive diagnosis with the help of ultrasound.
This includes :

•  pressure measurement of arteries
• bi-directional Doppler sonography
• colour-coded duplex sonography
• esophagus cardiography (ultrasound from the gullet) from the point of view of vascular medicine

Diabetes mellitus and other metabolic diseases

Thanks to our modern laboratory diagnostics detection and follow-ups it is now possible to detect these diseases at an early stage which is hugely important. We offer well-structured instruction and training to our patients.
We also show them how to adjust and use insulin pumps.
Additional treatments are included due to complications, accompanying and/or previous illness at the discovery of diabetes mellitus naturally plays an essential role in our department.
Our outpatient department for diabetis also has a long professional tradition.
Additional specialized medical practices in Zittau and Löbau ensure a qualified treatment for the outpatient.
 

Gastroenterology

We are offering diagnosis and therapy of the diseases of :

• esophagus (gullet)
• stomach
• small bowel / large bowel
• gall-bladder system
• pancreas

We focus our attention on both chronical intestinal and liver diseases.
Endoscopic and sonographic images (ultrasound) is crucial to the diagnostic work in our department.
Over the last years we have steadily extended our range of services as far as endoscopy is concerned. Presently we conduct 5,500 medical controls yearly.
We also offer limited endoscopic controls for outpatients.
Patients suffering from chronic liver diseases can use our consultation-hour in the hospital.
 

Cardiology
 
Our cardiology centre treats heart diseases and prevention like the consequences of high blood pressure.
The most common needs for heart diseases with outpatients are :

• acute and chronical cardiac insufficiency
• disturbance of blood supply (angina pectoris and heart attack)
• valvular heart disease
• cardiac arrhythmias
• myocarditis / pericarditis
  

For us the key for a purposeful and successful treatment is a carefully arranged and professional diagnosis. In our department we offer the following research methods and methods of treatment :

• electrocardiogram
• long-term electrocardiogram
• exercise echocardiography
• transoesophageal echocardiography
• tilt table test
• long-term blood pressure reading
• right heart catheter
• pacemaker implantation (each year 120 single-and dual-chamber cardiac pacemaker as well as 20 implantable cardioverter defibrillator and about 10 three-chamber systems against cardiac insufficiency) operations are performed

We successfully work together with other heart specialists for outpatients. Left heart catheter checks (coronary angiography) are being conducted in close cooperation with the specialists from the heart catheter laboratory in Görlitz. (joint practice Dipl.med. Ullrich & Dr. Gabel).
 

Haematology / Oncology

In this field we offer special treatment to patients with malignant gastro-intestinal diseases, diseases of the bronchial system, the breast, as well as malign lymphoma and chronic leukaemia.
Our taking part in scientific surveys guarantees very innovative ways of treatment.
Furthermore, we regularly take part in interdisciplinary case reviews and in-service training in the course of tumor conferences. We naturally also closely work together with the breast centre. All this ensures the most helpful scheduling of the treatment from the initial diagnosis.
The teamwork with a private oncologist guarantees a demand-actuated change between inpatient and outpatient therapy.
