The focus areas of activity in this department are gynaecology and obstetrics. We closely work with other departments of our hospital, especially in the area of perinatal (period immediately before and after birth) medicine and  obstetrics, as well as the departments of paediatrics, neonatology (medical care of newborn especially ill or premature), diagnostic analysis and therapy.
Thus we are able to use and implement the special knowledge of these departments interdisciplinary for the benefit of our patients.
We provide a special “step-by-step” care system to our patients.
It starts with a consultation in which specific questions are asked, then continues with an admission diagnosis, consultation with the head of department, admission to the hospital, pin-pointed surgery planning, further medical consultation, surgery or obstetrical treatment until the discharge from the hospital.

We focus our special attention to work closely and continuously with the general practitioners outside the hospital as well as with the doctors responsible for the after-care treatment.
A top priority for every member of our department is the introduction of new or alternative methods of diagnosis and therapy methods for the benefit of our patients.

The newly-built and remodelled areas in our hospital lay the best foundations for our ambitious aims. We also provide the best-possible treatment for women with breast cancer in our breast centre Brustzentrum Ostsachsen (BZOS) and work according to international standards.
The gynaecological department contains several centres of excellence, as for example the pediatrics department, the department of neonatology, the breast centre and the centre of pelvic base and continence Beckenboden und Kontinenzzentrum Ostsachsen (BKOS).
Thus our department is the place to go for special and complex symptoms.
