In our department the focus of work is on the entire acute and reconstructive hand surgery.
The department provides its very specialized services to a large section of southeast Germany and has a transregional importance.
The services provided include microsurgery for peripheral nerves and vessels, surgery for rheumatism as well as surgery for malformed hands.
Most of the above mentioned services are also being offered to outpatients.

Our department is authorized to provide services according to the so-called § 6 – procedure ("corporate accident insurance")
Since 1996 we have been one of the specialized departments that provide replacing and reconstructive finger-and hand amputations.

This department was added in 1990 and since that time has been an independent, specialized department with its own head physician.
It was the first of its kind in Saxony.
Every year we provide our services to about 1,400 inpatients including approximately 1,700.
surgeries.


Professional profile of the department

Professional application using the most modern surgical methods:


  • acute and reconstructive surgery for traumatology of extremities
    (marrow nail and minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis, external stabilizations, traumatology of children, minimal-invasive osteosynthesis, distraction of callus, reconstructive surgery of tendon and soft tissue including microsurgery of nerves, tendons and blood vessels)
  • primary care for seriously-injured patients as well as patients with multiple injuries
    within our interdisciplinary team
  • diagnostic and surgical arthroscopy of wrist, shoulder joint, knee joint and ankle joint
  • endoprosthetics of hip joint and shoulder joint as well as endoprosthetics of smaller jointsnternisten
  • emergency surgery and orthopaedic foot-surgery
  • surgery of difficult injuries, ligament surgery, tendon surgery, surgery of arthrosis,
    surgery of toe malposition as well as deformations resulting from rheumatism and diabetes
  • conservative treatment (use of cast) as well as conservative-functional (without cast) therapy of bone fractures and tendon injuries


If the patient wishes we also offer after treatment and monitor the physical therapy during the consultation hours of our department.
